A Budget for the New Year
The new year is here and I’m here to tell you that it is time to SAVE MONEY!!! So don’t let that word “Budget” scare you. You can do it!Saving money starts with two things…a long term goal and short-term goals. You have to know what you want before you can get it.
Do you want to be able to eat out three times a week or go to the movies once a week? Do you want to pay off the credit card or the mortgage? Do you want to retire comfortably or as a millionaire? Do you want marriage? Do you want a vacation? Do you want to save for your child’s college fund?
Once you know what you want, you will be able to figure out how to get there.
So, what I want you to do, before you come back to this blog, is to figure out what you really want financially and then make your long term goal and decide on some short term goals that will get you there. I will go over goals later, right now, I want you to make these goals and we will tweak them as we go.
Then, I want you to think about what you want in life. Marriage? Spending time with your family? Time to exercise?
You want to make sure you have a balance in your life. Saving money shouldn’t take away from something else in your life. I don’t want you to work 80 hours a week so you have money to pay your bills if it means you won’t see your family. Now, there are times when you might have to work extra and you won’t see your family, very often, for a month or a little more…but I’m talking about you working for years to save money and you don’t see your family during that time or for very little during that time.
I want you to save money and enjoy your family at the same time. And I’m hoping I can help you with that.
I don’t want you to feel ashamed or embarrassed by your need to save money. Anything can happen. I ‘pinch my pennies’, but recently my family has been hit hard with medical bills, so this has thrown us behind. So I’m here to put my family and myself back on track just like I want to help you do.
So, let’s start pinching our pennies together.
