Buying a Home

Yes, there are even ways to save money when you are buying a home.  I want to share these tips with you, so you can be a home owner also.Ask questions.  Any family or friend that you have who has purchased a house before, you need to be asking them questions.  Find out what they did wrong and what they did right.  What would they do again and what would they never do again.  Asking plenty of questions is one of the easiest ways to save money.

Did you know you can negotiate certain things with the bank.  Things like the closing costs.  Banks want your business and reducing the closing costs is one way to do this.  Also, you can ask that the seller of the house pay the closing cost.  If they want to sell their home bad enough, they might just pay the closing cost.

Make sure you have the house inspected before you purchase the home.  An independent home inspector will let you know what is wrong with the home, so you don’t buy this home and then find out it is going to cost you thousands to repair the roof, flooring or even worse, the structure.  If the inspector finds something wrong, you can then negotiate that amount off the asking price.  Be cautious of a home owner that tries to talk you out of  a home inspection.

Don’t buy the first home you look at,  look around.  You never know what you might find.  Different towns, even if they are just minutes away from each other, can have almost identical homes for less.  You will also want to check to see what the property taxes will cost you from town to town.  Again, you might buy the home of you dreams in one town and pay out more in taxes or you can look around and find a home that is comparable and your taxes will be less.

Don’t be afraid to ask lenders if they can give you a lower rate or if they will take one or two points off so you don’t have to pay that at closing.
