Clothing – Getting More For Your Money
Have you noticed how expensive clothes are and how short a time they last? If you have children, then you know…you buy something today and it doesn’t fit them tomorrow. If you work outside the home, you know how expensive work clothes are and depending on what type of work you do, you might even have the cost of dry cleaning…When you get ready in the morning and just before walking out the door, you grab your cologne and you spray it…a mist in your hair and a mist over your clothes. Do NOT do this anymore! Perfumes can make the fabric of your clothes weak and it will cause stains that won’t come out.
You don’t want to get your make-up and/or lipstick all over your clothes either. Most of us don’t know how to remove stains, so if we get our clothes stained, we do the wrong thing and that stain is set. And that outfit is ruined. Money wasted.
Would you believe that it is better for your sweaters to be folded and put in a drawer than it is to hang them on hangers? Folding the sweaters will keep the shoulders from being mess up as they might be with a hanger.
I know we all want to save money and filling our washers and dryers to top is our way of trying to save. But when your clothes are stuffed into the washer, they don’t get as clean because the water can’t flow through them. Now, I’m not saying to wash only three things at a time, but you need to make sure your clothes have room to ’swim’ around int he washer. Plus you want to make sure your clothes don’t get snagged on each other and if they are too close, they can get caught up together, causing damage.
Another way to save on your clothing is to make sure you zip, button and hook all those zippers, buttons and hooks on your clothing. This keeps their shapes better and doesn’t allow for stretching.
Clean out those pockets. Not only might you find some money, but you might just save a whole laundry basket full of clothes. What happens if you leave a lipstick or ink pen in your pocket and then wash and dry it? That lipstick will melt all over your clothes and the ink has just turned your favorite silk blouse into a blue spotted silk blouse. Make sure the only thing in the washer and dryer is the clothing.
