Fast Kitchen Fixes for Your Food

Food is expensive, so you don’t want to waste it…but sometimes things happen and you might think you don’t have any other choice, but you might just be wrong…

Is your stew too salty?  Add a teaspoon of sugar…The sugar will balance out the salt and your stew will be saved.  No sugar?  Add a teaspoon of honey for the same trick…

Making hard-boiled eggs?  Put a Tablespoon of vinegar in the pan, add eggs, then water…enough to cover eggs and boil like normal.  The vinegar will keep your egg whites from seeping out if the egg should crack.  Also, adding a touch of salt to the water while boiling, will make them easier to peel when they’ve cooled…

Cooking Sweet corn-on-the-cob?  Add a little milk to the  cooking water…the milk will bring out even more sweetness from the corn…

Need fresh lemon juice?  Keep your lemons in a sealed jar of water.  Or you can prick the lemon once or twice with a knife and microwave on medium power for 15 seconds.

No more tears while chopping an onion…freeze your onion for 10 to 15 minutes before chopping.  Or light a candle and keep it close by while chopping.  Or chop your onion close to the sink and turn your water on cold and let it run.

Ever had the bottoms of your muffins stick to the bottom of your muffin tins?  Try this the next time…When you remove your muffin tin from the oven, place it on a wet towel.  This will create condensation on the bottom, which will help your muffins release without sticking…

Do you like a crispier crust on your homemade bread?  When baking your bread in the oven, place half a dozen ice cubes in another oven safe container and put it in the oven with your bread.  The steam the melting ice creates will give your crust a crispier crust.
