Save Money When Buying a Car
Getting the best deals on a new car aren’t as hard as you might think. With a few simple steps, you can get a great deal on your new car.The first and most important step is to do some research.
Most of the time a bigger dealership will give you a better deal, because they have more stock and they sell more cars. By doing a little research, you might find a great deal down the street at a smaller dealership.
Learn everything about the vehicle you are wanting to get. Find out what the car would cost without any extras. This is the price or at least very close to this price, is what you want to pay. Most ads have the price for the bare minimum car, then you get to the dealership and you can’t find the basic car. This is how they get you. Don’t let the dealership know you really did want a sun roof. Of course they will tell you they can’t do anything about that..the car came with one, so you have to pay for it…But if you know what these extras actually cost, you can haggle to keep the actual cost down.
Knowing when to buy your new car is also important. If you try to buy a 4-wheel drive in the middle of winter, it will cost you more than if you buy it in the summer. They do this because they know a lot of people want a vehicle that can get through the snow and/or other bad weather, so they know they can charge a little more.
Have you heard those ads about “buy it now and get a tax break”…watch this. There are only certain vehicles that get this tax break. So make sure you ask before you buy.
Are you paying cash, trading a vehicle, etc.? Don’t let the dealership know this until after you get the best price they are willing to give you. If you let them know you are going to trade in your car, then they aren’t going to go very low, because they know the are going to have to knock some off for the trade-in. If you get the lowest they are willing to go and then do the trade-in, you will pay even less.
A lot of people don’t haggle, they just pay that sticker price. Just remember, if you don’t ask, you WILL pay sticker price. If you ask and haggle, you might just save a lot of money.
