Saving Money on a Home Office
Get creative in your home office and make it a one of a kind home office. One that is functional and one that shows off your personality…and do it with little cost…Check the second hand stores for used printers. Nowadays, when people upgrade their computers, they upgrade everything from their printers to their copy machines. So why not take advantage of their second hand, but still usable office equipment.
Check on websites like Overstock.com and find yourself a refurbished computer instead of buying a new one. If you are creating websites or doing a lot of art type projects, you might want to upgrade to a better computer, but if you are using your computer for business emails, writing letters, etc. then a refurbished one will work just fine.
Don’t get a fax machine. Most computers these days will do the trick for you. If you aren’t sure how to set this up, take your computer to a computer store and for about $50.00 or less they should be able set it up. This can be set up to sign your name and then you don’t have waste paper by printing things out…just digital sign it and fax it straight from your computer.
Make sure you purchase a good surge protector for your office equipment. You don’t want to get all set up, have a storm come through and put you out of business before you even get started. And don’t forget to back up all your work.
Check out your local library before you buy a book. Most libraries can get any book you want from other libraries if they don’t have it. This way you can see if this is a book you will use…if it is, then purchase it…if it isn’t then you aren’t out anything but maybe the $1.00 the library charged you for the shipping cost.
Buy used furniture for your office. Or check with Staples, etc. to see when they change over their floor models. You can get some really good deals on the floor models. You can always save to upgrade in the future.
Don’t forget about the extra electricity you will be using in your new home office. Save money by putting your desk close to the window so you can use natural light, Set your monitors to sleep mode when you aren’t using it will save you electricity. Turn off your equipment when you are done for the day and unplug your equipment. Don’t let that vampire power take away your hard earned money.
