The Telephone – You Can Save Money
I know most everyone has a cell phone, but there are still those of us who also have a regular phone, so here are some simple tips to help save money on The Telephone…First, stop renting your phone from the phone company! And if you purchased your last phone at Walmart, etc, then make sure you are not being charged for a rented phone on your phone bill. Phones come in different price ranges and if you buy your phone at the store, then you pay for it once, not each month.
Most people know that phone companies have off hours for long distance. Make your calls during these times. Or better yet, use your cellphone to make these calls. Just make sure, you aren’t being charged for long distance on your cell phone.
Check you bill each month. I mean really check it. Mistakes happen and you don’t want to be the one paying for those mistakes. Check to make sure you are paying for only what you want…make sure your long distance is who you want and check around to see if you can get a better long distance company. Really check how you use your phone and how you can make the phone bill less each month. Don’t call the operator to look up a number. Odds are they are looking it up in the same phone book you have on your counter. Look it up, if you can’t find it in the phone book then call the operator.
Don’t call the wrong number, and to keep from doing this, you need to make sure your address book is up-to-date. Also, making a list of things you want to remember to tell your family or friend when you are talking to them means there won’t be any lull in conversation. You don’t want to pay nothing…you want to pay for the news your family member and/or friends have to share.
How many times have you been getting ready to eat and a telemarketer calls. Don’t answer the phone! Let your answering machine pick up. If it is a friend or family member, then you can pick up and talk…but if it is a telemarketer, then you have just saved yourself some time and most likely some money.
